Job Description
A prolific iron ore producer is seeking a Metallurgist to oversee the safe and successful operations of the plant. This is a full time FIFO role.
Reporting to the GM of Operations, you will be responsible for plant commissioning, process performance improvement initiatives, and cost reduction through new technologies. Overall laboratory performance will also be a function of your role. To ensure effective performance, you will work closely with lab personnel, interpret test results and contribute to technical reports. Root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and working in tandem with other engineers to establish process controls are also key aspects of this role.
In addition to a degree in metallurgy or related, you also have your P. Eng designation or are eligible for registration in ON, NL or QC. You have a minimum of 10 years experience in operations, and have in depth knowledge of iron ore metallurgy and process design. Previous experience in plan and budget preparation is required. Familiarity with project planning software, and other technical disciplines such as geology, hydrology, civil and mechanical engineering is needed.
As the successful incumbent, you will be granted ample opportunity to pursue personal interests as this is a 2/2 FIFO rotation while earning a competitive salary for your contributions.
